About the Basenji Dog Breed
The Congo was the birthplace of the Basenji dog breed, which originated in Africa. Originally used to push small game into hunters’ nets and reduce village rat populations, these dogs use both scent and sight to hunt. They also make wonderful, affectionate, furry family members these days.
Basenjis can be found in shelters or in the care of rescue groups, despite the fact that they are purebred canines. If you think this is the breed for you, consider adopting!

Historically, the Basenji was trained to hunt lions. So, a cat should not be a problem for a Basenji.
