Louis & Nick | The Kennel Club Hero Dog Award 2025
In 2024, Louis, a four-year-old English Setter-cross and his owner, Nick Johnson, from Wiltshire, embarked on a remarkable journey across more than 3,000 miles of English coastline, in memory of Nick’s late wife, Lisa, who died of ovarian cancer. The duo braved difficult weather and challenging terrain, and walked for over seven months. And together they have amassed more than £60,000 in donations, enough to sponsor a specialist cancer researcher in Lisa’s name. Supporting Nick every step of the way was rescue dog Louis, who provided love, energy and companionship throughout their long journey across the country.

What a stand-up, strong fellow. Walking to gain donations in honor of your beautiful wife to help research and fight ovarian cancer. Louis could be the dog that gained the donation that found that cured this horrible cancer.
