  1. All the Newfoundland wolves were hunted to extinction in 1911. Moose were not introduced to the island until 1904. So they only coexisted for about 7 years. Also Newfoundland only has snow for about 4 or 5 months out of the year at most. Some believe that a few wolves survived and bred with coyotes to create a very large hybrid.
