Although it’s quite a bit dark, in the 15th century pope innocent VII called cats evil spawns of the devil and witches ordering thousands of cats to be burned. Clearly they haven’t quite thought that one true. Because the killing of so many cats led to a very sudden explosion in Rat population across Europe, it eventually led to a colossal spreading and massive outbreak of the plague all the Black Death. Almost half the population got wiped out, had it not been for the ridiculous claims against cats, the rats would be kept more in check, the disease would spread slower and thousands. If not Millions would walk away with their lives spared, this was basically Nature’s way of saying you reap what you sow no wonder we don’t mess with cats nowadays
