All great stuff, I do the same for my dog! Another thing I do with my dog for safety and also as a courtesy to other people is to leash up my dog and get her in a sit/stay as soon as I hear or see another person and their dog, so it gives them enough time to figure out how they want to approach my dog and to reassure the other person that I'm not going to let my dog get all in their space without their permission. If they leash up their dog too that's great, and if they don't that's fine too but I also trust them to be responsible for their dogs behavior.
