In this video I go over some tips to help with puppy biting. Please keep in mind puppies do play bite, but when they bite too hard they need to be corrected so they can learn what is a play bite and what is going to far. It’s all about teaching them good manners. These are methods I have used for years, but may not be for everyone. This is specifically for puppies between 8-12 weeks of age (16 weeks if you got skills) and some of my methods may not be suited for everyone and should only be practiced if you feel comfortable with doing them. Since I don’t have any dogs that are currently at the puppy stage, Furgus agreed to help us out for this video.

  1. OMG This reminds my of the Muppet Show. THIS WAS SO HILARIOUS . This is GREAT I really needed this (Can COVID-19 just be over already?) TOO FUNNY 😂🤣😂🤣 Thank you for this 🤗
You know when your in trouble when you puppy is now almost 2 yrs and she is still biting and worse and her bite strength is really strong no blood but will make your arm bruise and hurt for a day. My girl just will keep biting she does it to get my attention. My boy grew out of it and only slips when he is overly excited. I can not seem to get any of this to work. I know it is my fault not hers, she really likes it.

  2. Whoever did that was amazing just like the muppets! Thank you for the tips I’m getting a blue heeler in 3 days you’ve helped a lot with the tips!

  3. The love you have for your dogs radiate from your videos! Thank you for sharing such a wealth of knowledge about this incredible breed. I must say though it seems your pups are rather calm when featured in these videos. I have a 1 year old Blue Heeler who just is non-stop! Could be an 8 mile hike, could be his everyday "job" but he's always on go mode. How do you get your dogs to cohabitate without the constant playing or "what's next?" Mentality?

  4. Thank you, as you see, my icon is MY red heeler puppy and now he’s like 2 months old so I hope this will help thanks so much!!!

  5. I just found you haha I am researching about heeler

I just bought my heeler puppy like 2 weeks ago, she is 8 weeks old and I didn’t even know what a heeler was.. I love my dog.. but she can be stubborn and nips and snaps at me when I try to put her on the leash when she is having fun, or when I pick her up from nipping my heel.. I don’t know if that’s a normal thing or a sign or aggression? She is very very very friendly with dogs and other people tho..
Any advice is welcome 🙂 and thank you for your videos

  6. I just got a healer 3 days ago. She is very nippy tried everything you said doesn't seem to faze her. Then today I blew in her face and it stopped her in her tracks it was pretty funny she looked at me like what is that. She is 8 weeks old the cutest little bundle of energy.

  7. Lmao! That was great.

Edit: I’ve been firm with my pup so far with a “No!” when he bites too hard. He is starting to get the idea. I just want to nip it in the butt while he is still young.

  8. Thank you both 🙂 Learning so much…. We have a new blue heeler.. Maze, and he likes to bite.. I do use "no" or "Ahhhh", but got more ideas, thank you.

  9. Hi! We just got a Australian cattle dog mixed with a lab and Great Pyrenees. She has been learning so fast with learning simple commands like sit, lay, and shake but the biting has been the hardest to get her to learn to stop. She is almost 3 months old, she doesn’t really nip at the ankles but she will go for hair, clothes, and skin. Sometimes it’s just her play biting but sometimes when she gets really hyper she gets to almost like an aggressive bite. We have tried to do these tips but she will start barking at us when we try sometimes. Is this her just being sassy and will just overcome it? We will try to distract with a toy too sometimes but she will see our arm and get distracted from the toy and try to bite us again.

  10. Thank you for a delightful video on biting. Our Heeler is four months old. The bitting has improved, but forgets during play. I'm glad I read your response to a comment saying bitting training may be needed up to a year. My arms have pit marks. Two other bad habits we are working on are: rearing up to greet and although the vet technicians trim her nails, they bring blood if wearing shorts. The sit command helps but visitors don't know that. The other badness is trying to get on end table to steal a napkin or anything else that catches her eyes. Of course we use down and off. She totally ignores us. We resorted to a rolled pamphlet. She thinks it's a game. I don't want her to distrust us with punishment but unclear as to proceed. Yes. We used treats after physically moving her, but she seems to think that's a great way to get treats. I've tried crating her after scolding but I don't know if she understands why she is being disciplined. We only leave her in a few minutes. Can you help with suggestions?

  11. My pup is about 6 months and he still bites and nips and I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong, i won’t blame him because it’s our job to train him. I try to yelp to try and show him it hurts, he gets more excited. I correct him and guide him with a treat, works and then he continues to do it. Consistency is key and I’m just trying to be patient.

  12. I’d watch a whole show of just the puppet. Your hubbies good at it. Great addition, smart move

  13. New Tool in the Biting Box: I have this all natural Flea and Tick spray.. smells pretty strong but seems very effective. My 9 month old Zoro (Now 60 LBS!), HATES this stuff, and will run away. If Zoro gets "Nippy", all I do is finger Point at the bottle, and he will withdraw instantly! The threat is enough. If he's determined, I pick up the bottle like I'm going to spray it, and he leaves the room. No amount of "NO BITING" yelling works at all, he goes Blank/Confused. Making Progress. He's still packin' his Wonder Nuggets which will be my last resort. Also, I upgraded to a Harness. Zoro now has a Very Convenient and much needed "Handle" I can grab. Squirmy Dogs need Handles!

  14. When I tell my 3 month old blue heeler "Don't bite me!", she knows not to bite me, but she will instantly get rebellious and start barking at me instead, throwing her head around like having a tantrum. It's cute, but….
