You’ve heard it a million times that Dobermans are different from other dogs, but why? In this video, we talk about 6 ways the Doberman Pinscher is a truly unique dog. This is a relatively new breed in the dog world (created in the 1890s) and they sure have their fair share of strong instincts. These instincts drive and direct this dog’s behavior and while some of these are amazing assets to the dog, some can be setbacks depending on your situation. This is important information to know if you are considering getting your first Doberman.

  1. Quick question, how do they react with family members? If they get attached to me would they be fine staying with my partner for example from time to time to take care of them or my nieces?

  2. We used to have a doberman. I never thought these sweet qualities were typical of the breed. Everything you say here is so true!

Speaking of their sensitivity to surroundings and focusing on their owners, once something very intriguing happened:

I took the dog out for a walk in a park late at night. I was 17 then, a girl. 👀

The night is pretty dark but I am with my dog so I feel safe enough to risk walking in a dark park. Suddenly, she stops and starts pulling in an opposite direction to where we walked.

She is so determined that I get curious and want to test her. I start pulling to make her go ahead. Her determination raises and looks more like panic fear. She is forcefully pulling me in the direction she wants to go.

I give in and we get back home walking a way that is lit up.

It was long time ago, but to this day the situation intrigues me.

I wonder what it was there in the park… She wasn’t an agressive dog but she wasn’t cowardy either. There were times when she attacked if she didn’t like someone. It was so unusual to see her scared that night.

What you say in this video – about sensing emotions – supports my guess that there might have been someone with some really evil intentions that she intuited. She must have sensed danger that she thought was too big to confront.

Dobermans really are great dogs. ❤ Dobreman owners – love them. They really are previous and loving. The best dogs ever. ❤🏅:)

  3. I love it because I have a lady friend who has a Doberman. And I love it when she follows me around. I think it's pretty cool when she cuddles up with me.

  4. John is just such a subject matter expert on this breed. And does an incredibly excellent job of communicating exactly why dobermans are such an incredible breed of dog. And once you get one of these superior canines, you will never go back to owning any other breed of dog. Great job john!

  5. I’ve had various dogs throughout my life, but our Dobie really was different. Our red, Euro Dobie was a human in a fur coat. The care and concern he had for me, his communication with me, the strong connection we had… it was was like no other dog. They really do stare into your eyes like a human being with a strong desire to understand and be understood. Miss that handsome boy with all my heart. -Mona

  6. Excellent video. Thank you very much.

I have always wondered, what's the feminine gender of this beautiful beast called? Doberwoman? 🤔 And how about the feminine gender of a Bulldog? Cowdog? Cowbi*tch? Please someone, anyone alleviate my confusion . 🙏

  7. Your video is spot on. My wife's dog is half Doberman half pit-bull, but he has a strong Doberman blood that he still looks and behave like a pure Doberman. One thing about Doberman matching with your emotions is totally true. As well as he try to to hog the couch while pushing you on the corner. Just looking at your Doberman in the background kind of reminds me of our dog.

  8. Love love your channel! Have had many Doberman babies in my time- and over the years I have heard numerous traits- Velcro dog, love on 4 legs, old souls…It is so true they know words-not a tone from you- but real words❤️❤️❤️ they are hands down the best dog ever-you MUST let them know who’s Alpha! Otherwise they’ll walk all over you- spoiled and know it- great Video!

  9. I got. A dobbie mix and was abused really really bad and so i been trying things to help her i just wish she was more of a snuggle she is nervous about it

  10. A Doberman will spend half it's life trying to figure out what you're gonna do next and the other half trying to figure out how to get you to do what they want you to do next. RIP Raven, Titan and Zeus.

  11. I’ve had 3 dobies over the last 20 years. Never got any of their ears cropped. Great dogs, all of them.

  12. My doberman is almost 2 years old. She always gets in the water but didn't swim until just the other day. It was awesome to see her swim but then she tried staying next to the kayak the entire time, scaring the fish. She is the best dog I've ever had (including labradors and Rottweilers.)
