      I probably wouldn't say it's a great first dog just because of all the exercise you will need to give them. Otherwise absolute sweet hearts

      I've had a few different dogs in my life but, after having a whippet, I'll never have anything else. They are absolutely perfect dogs.

      Just be aware- whippets, like many other hounds, are prone to anxiety, especially separation anxiety. Combine that with their high energy, and you could have a recipe for destruction- literally.

      I love alll the sighthounds! I’ve had borzois, salukis, afghans, and so many greyhounds! I had one pharaoh hound we rescued and two Irish deerhounds and a Scottish wolfhound before, but I’ve never had a whippet. They’re next!

      They are similar to greyhounds only smaller. Adorable but too full of energy for a senior lady. Happy trails to you and God bless.

      What's great about whippets is yeah they need exercise but you can just take them to a dog park and they will just run. Bonus points if there are other dogs and they play a game of chase that they are hopelessly outmatched in.

      They are really good dogs, I used to think they were greyhounds until I started working with them through my old job. They are so friggin sweet, one was a grumpy old fellow but yet he’d come and give me a little kiss every now and then so friggin cute ❤

      It’s crazy u think they a good choice for first time dog owners when the devils need 8 hrs of exercise followed by another 4 of mental stimulation otherwise they gonna tear up ur house….

      Everyone in your house will have welt marks on their legs constantly with a whippet (or a greyhound). When they get excited and wag their tail it becomes a freaking whip, smacking the shit out of everyone they walk past. And these dogs have what are basically uncontrollable urges to run, like 10× worse than any other breed. I can do without that hyper, in your face, overly annoying energy 24/7, that's why i prefer cats.

      At drunk Andy's house there was a dog that looked like one of these dogs and a pitbull had a litter and those dogs were high energy and untrained but very smart, which made things even worse. I went out for a walk and woke up in the hospital a month later, I guess a car hit me, I dont remember. So I don't have a clue how the pups are doing.
