  1. We just got our 3rd dobie pup, and while I pretty much know what to do, your videos gave me so much guidance and taught me better ways to handle the puppy phase. You really made this process so much easier. Thanks man!

  2. What are the little devices that you have on your dobie pups ears? I’m at the tail end of posting and that device looks really handy and easy. Thanks so much in advance.

  3. The problem I'm having right now is that my doberman is 12 weeks old and isn't allowed to be around other dogs or go to the dog park Oh, by our vets orders until he is fully vaccinated at 18 weeks. He is starting to growl and bark at a few dogs but not at people. We don't have friends that have fully vaccinated dogs so I'm a little lost on what to do

  4. Hi John! I've been considering getting a dog someday in the future and am doing lots of research on what breed might be right for me and my lifestyle. Your videos helped me fall in love with dobies and I've been binge watching them for weeks! I'm still trying to decide if a doberman is right for me or not, but your videos are so educational and fun to watch even if I don't end up getting one. Thank you so much for giving us dobie fans amazing content and resources! I can't wait for the next episode of Puppy Corner!

  5. i lost my last Dobe 2 years ago to cancer. he was a german doberman and was a awesome dog he got along with anyone. i am thinking about getting another soon but I don't want an American Dobe . May I ask where you got your last pup from?

  6. Hello! I wanna get a doberman but i have two dogs : a labrador and a shih tzu . They are Both females and I wanna get a female doberman . Will they like each Other ? Will the doberman like the dogs i have or is it dangerous to get a doberman in this case ?

  7. hey john I got a dobermann three weeks ago and man your videos are amazing my brother. Got her tested with embark the 15th of this month. I appreciate all the knowledge and info you have provided.

  8. My dobi female is 12 weeks old. I failed with the crate. She was only in crate for 2 nights. Waking me every 2 hours, I was done. She was upstairs with me and my 5 year dobi boy. Two. Nights I got up with her to take her out, with the big boy in tow. After those two nights upstairs she started sleeping through. Good job it’s only me with these two. Beautiful dogs. Zeus my boy is chocolate and Freya is. Lack and tan, she loves to wind zeus up, so gets told no a lot. I have noticed that zeus is more Barry at people he does not know when I’m out with both of them. I’m assuming rightly or wrongly that he is feeling protective of her. I know he is different out with me than with my husband. It’s as if he is more aware and watching out with me. But, with my husband he just walks normal. Just wondered if anyone else has noticed anything like this ?

  9. Your videos are very helpful, we are waiting to get a doberman mix puppy, you have any tips, The puppy who you’re getting is Doberman mixed with English bulldog

  10. Can a doberman be socialized so that new people coming to the house won't be considered a threat? Or my kids and neighborhood kids wrestling or playing rough in the yard? What about visits to relatives and being ok with people they don't know coming up to a relative's house? In a growing family, siblings with growing families, what about meeting new kids periodically? What about if a parent comes to the backyard to collect their kid who is at my house playing? Can a Doberman be socialized to recognize that all of these cases are not threats?

  11. Loving the videos. We will be getting our new Doberman at the end of October and I am anxiously waiting on your next video on socializing before fully vaccinated. Do you have a timeline on when episode 4 will be up? I’ve subscribed and hoping it will be soon. Thanks for your amazing videos.

  12. We just brought our Doberman puppy home on Friday! We’re so excited to have her, we’re looking into signing her up for the next round of puppy training classes and I’m even looking into puppy daycare for the day or two I have to work in the office.

  13. I am currently overseas and the only trusted puppies I found are 5 month old. Is that too old? We plan on having a kitten as well and we have lots of kids so socialization is key. Please advise. Thanks

  14. My dobie is 6 months, we socialized him a little bit when he was a pup in that window. And I do have another dog in the house that he was introduced to as a puppy. But now I'm afraid I've missed the window and I want to start taking him out around other people and animals… I'm I too late? Or do I still have hope?

  15. Just adopted a dobie male 6mos of age any recommendations on socializing him? He was in a prior home and became fearful probably due to 0 socialization.

  16. you are a great information source, youve converted me…i originally wanted a Kangal but a Doberman temperament is exactly what i want. most people shouldn't own a dog and those dogs have a bad life then they end up in pounds or are killed just because they weren't trained or socialized properly, that applies to every breed, of course i was addicted to Cesar Millan and because i want a Euro for shutzhund and a little service work i think his teaching style will work very well cause hes a bit harsher…youre a Doberman saver man in everyway

  17. I have a question. What does it mean to socialize a dog? Does it mean you take him to socialization classes, or to literally meet people? Or does it mean that you take him around to explore, and he sees other people and dogs?

  18. Any tips on socializing a doberman who is older, mine is 2 and a half and he goes nuts whenever I take him out or around new people. He wants to play with everyone, he doesn't nip but he hops around and very friendly but it scares some people

  19. I love your videos. I love how you teach people about what it takes to raise a dog. I say a dog because this works for all breeds. I also think that when you have kids use maybe a longer leash on walks this way your kid can hold the leash and you'd be right there for incase the dog suddenly pulls and starts to drag the kid. I used to have a beagle basset mix and he was ten years old when I started babysitting so he was already pretty mellow. But the three year old I was babysitting always enjoyed my doggie company. So, on one of the walks I took them both to this church parking lot behind my house. (It's works best since it is a quiet place during the week.) and I let her hold the leash and walk him around in random circles She was going to turn four in a few days so it was a nice gift. It showed her that she was growing up and could be trusted to help me walk my dog. (It helped that my dog was 10 years old) My doggie has passed away in 2013 but I still got those memories.

Anyways, another good way to socialize is if you can take your dog to work with you. My teacher had two dogs and a dog that was being trained to be a service dog. She'd bring them to class every day. We would learn about them as well as caring for other animals since it was an animal care class. (FYI I still shiver from the thought of having to take care of the African hissing roaches.)

Thanks as always for the upload and tips and clips of the cute doggies.

  20. 8 weeks ago I purchased a Doberman puppy. He was four months and three weeks old. He had been raised in nearly total isolation with nearly no attachment to humans and only a horse for company. He was closely confined. The breeder had his own problems after pups were born and didn't sell them after which the litter changed hands. I have raised my own Dobermans and the older ones I have adopted were all very confident, even fearless. Have never taken on a project like this before and it is very hard, even for an experienced owner and trainer. The pup had no attachment to people, only to my horse and he would do almost anything to be with him, was very upsetting. Had to be extremely careful that he didn't get loose on me, never would have caught him. He has many fears, especially about going in and out of doorways or in and out of the house. Very nervous and fearful of anything new. But most of all, he has a short attention span which is the hardest part. He can't orient himself in spaces and gets confused over simple things such as heading back to the house after a walk. Has been eight weeks and only now, he is able to see that the house is the "base" and is familiar. He is forming an attachment to me, but it isn't like what you call a normal attachment. It just blows my mind how stunted he is. He will wander and quickly seem to forget where he is and lose his bearings. I would love any input on this, I do worry about his future and how much a person can reasonably expect after one year of age. This is an extremely helpful video, but it only makes me more worried.

  21. Pls help!! I currently have a 2year old rescue that’s a European Doberman and is the sweetest most loving dog with the family and when it comes to strangers and other animals it’s 50/50 she either loves them or wants to attack them right away and how ever they introduce from what I’ve done doesn’t seem to make a difference. And my buddy has to get rid of his Doberman presa mix (11months)sadly and I’m taking it so he knows it’s going to a good place. But what is the best/safest way for these dogs to first interact and start their bond growing together hopefully smooth could really use your or anyone else that might have an idea on the healthiest way to do this

  22. Love the video! We have a brand new puppy, we have been taking her everywhere and practicing all your advice. One problem I don't know how to solve is the whining. I'm being patient, letting her get comfortable around "fearsome" objects, going at her pace, practicing tricks she knows, and being reassuring with lots of positive touch and praises. How do I help her not whine with the unknown? I want her to be confident and at ease. She is 11.5 wks.

  23. I missed this sadly, got my dobie at 6.5 months. He’s not socialized or potty trained and I am having such a hard time. I try all the positive training tips and he still doesn’t learn. People can’t even pet him.
