Just bought a mix of both . His daddy was European and his mom was American. It will be interesting to see how my little baby Doberman will be more like his Dad or Mom or both.
I just love your videos! I am was matched with a European Doberman by a big rescue place where I live. I’m excited, I’ve never had a Doberman before but I have been doing a lot of research on this breed. I can’t wait! I always thought I’d get an American Doberman but after speaking with the rescue and her matching me by my life situation she recommended a particular dog who was a euro. I’m hoping I will be able to handle him and his size lol

WTF you talk about? American Doberman??? There is no such thing. Doberman is German breed and as I recall Germany is part of Europe. As usal they try to steel any thing good in this world and clame it as theirs.

Sorry but there's not a variant of the doberman. Why would you want that unless a country wants their own take on a breed and lessens it.
It's the same with German shepherds in the UK there's the original breed, straight backed German shepherds. And then the froggy legged, deformed hunch backed German shepherds only bred for the show ring. These dogs have such deformities to fit a breed standard where it's been acentuated. Hip dysplasia and inability to walk for the show standards.
The original doberman is well built and has a straight neck. No variation.
Anything else is not a variant, it's Americans wanting their own doberman, and their own stamp on it. Rather scrawny looking, less aggressive supposedly and a very strange looking bent arched neck which isn't healthy at all!
Poor appearance simply to try to make a different type of dog, to make it American.
It's no different, just very poor genetics from the same European dog.
UK are the first ones banning the cropping of the ears and tails
In europe it's pretty common that having dobies (and other "vicious" breeds) off leash in public is illegal. so that might skew the results a bit on the off-leash behaviour

Great stuff John, as always – Sorry if I missed this answer – but since you may be as nerdy as I am bout this breed…did you happen to also obtain the gender splits within the survey responses? May have been skewed and required weighting since the gender split wasn't 50/50 on each primary category?
American Dobermans like Super sized drinks…while the European Dobermans think that's just totally weird.
