Most people want to know if their Doberman puppy’s growth is on track. In this video, I’ll discuss the normal growth curve and growth rates for Dobermans and their typical adult weight. Plotting your puppy on this growth curve might help you get a glimpse into what your Doberman will look like as an adult. We’ll also talk about how to tell if your Doberman is underweight or overweight.

Remember that these numbers are just meant to give you a rough idea of the typical growth of a Doberman and are nowhere close to exact numbers. Many perfectly healthy Dobies might fall outside of this range from time to time. If you feel something may be wrong with your dog’s weight, see a veterinarian.

➡️ To keep your dog growing to its full potential, you need to feed him right. Here are the recent changes I made to Arlo’s diet and it’s making a HUGE difference! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OsTX2DYEBD4

  1. Hi John! I just got a Doberman puppy from a co-worker whose two adult Dobermans has a litter of nine. I brought her home two days ago at 7.5 weeks old. She is doing great—we are doing everything you recommend from crate training, stop biting, potty training, basic commands, etc. However, I am concerned that she is underweight. Based on your videos and others I’ve seen, she looks very small compared to where she should be. I have been feeding her 2 cups a day, spread out in four small meals. I am currently feeding her what she ate at home but will be slowly changing it to your recommended puppy food (Purina Pro Plan Focus). Should I be concerned? Should I feed her more? I will make a vet appointment soon, but also wanted to ask you (We watch your videos several times nearly everyday to make sure we are doing things right). Thank you for what you do!

  2. My 4 month old Doberman is 55 lbs, about 15 lbs over the Max of the average. Visually he appears to be a proper size I can see his waist line and his stomach is up from his chest. Should I expect him to be up over 100lbs at full size

  3. Rewatching videos for our boys and Kovu is 5 months and pushing 69lbs!! He’s Euro & American but he was the biggest boy! The thing is he doesn’t even look chunky! He’s just big. Hercules is about 61lbs but it’s a very finicky eater. He was the smallest boy so they are both very different!

  4. I have a 10 week old doberman mastiff. He weights 22lbs And I have no idea how he will grow a year from now.

  5. Hey Man, I got my doberman male and the seller told me he is of 30 days, but the weight of the pup is just 1.25, he is still on cerelacs and royal canin starter, should I be worried about the weight?

  6. My female 6months American/European dobie is 53lbs and she looks amazing … I kid u not we get compliments every time at the dog park 😉

  7. We just got a puppy from a breeder and they told us he is 8 weeks but looks 2 weeks….. he is very small and skinny. I’m taking him to the bet tomorrow. I hope he starts to grow normal. I hope we didn’t get tricked! 🥸🥺 because someone asked me if it was a miniature Dobe which I didn’t even know existed!

  8. Hey man great video, I watched one about the dog that helped the teacher and student. Made me think that for a person who has a Doberman as a helper that can’t see this video would be so much more helpful if you were more descriptive rather than only showing the graphs. Great videos!!!

  9. I asked the breeder for the more quiet puppy and I got the female runt of the litter. Very active, intelligent, in good health, and already has her first shots and deworming [I picked the puppy in the vet office from the breeder]. But she was only 8 inches and 7 pounds at 8 weeks of age. She is now 10 inches and 10 pounds at 9 weeks, so looks like she is gaining at a good rate.

  10. Our dobie Joy currently 15 weeks is going through some growth pain as we speak.. Her moaning and crying especially when we go to bed to sleep is killing me on the inside.. she is also shaking in her sleep non stop untill she is in her deep sleep stage.. our first dobie had a heartattack so i guess i am just a little over protecting and traumatised.. does maybe anyone have any tips for us??

  11. John, I wonder if you might address end of life and problems to be on the lookout for. My Dobe is now 11 years 9 months old and is starting to get stiff when she gets up. Further when she is walking on hard wood floors she is having problems with her hips. After saying all that she still wants to play all the time and I love her dearly. Pepper is my 8th Dobe and by far the oldest one I've had, but I don't want to mess up her final times

  12. Our dobie has ha hypo thyroid she's definitely over wt it is worrisome nothing we have tried has worked. The med prescribed doesn't help with that aspect. She is on a healthy kibble grain free and she gets exercise.

  13. My pup was 16kg at 16 weeks old. He's now 17 weeks and 19.5kg… 3.5kg/7.7lbs IN A WEEK. I'm shook

  14. I have a red 6 mos. I’ve had her since she was 10 weeks. Once I fed her 6 cups/day, she filled out & shot up. Looking at that chart, I m questioning if my house will still be standing when she gets older lol

  15. I feel my little guy is short and underweight a little. But, I'll keep him well taken care of and see how he fills out.

  16. Some guy at the park thought my 6 month old dobie girl was a whippet. Wtf! I didn’t think she was skinny for a baby pup. She eats plenty. Glad I came across this video.

  17. Please consider using metric measuring units as long as imperial. To most of the world those precious informations get kinda lost because of imperial units. It can be quite a pain to always having to convert lbs to kg, or inches to cm. You don't have to stop using imperial units, but please use units the rest of the world, not only the US can understand. It will surely raise your views. 🙂

  18. I guess we got a big one on our hands 😅 Our female named Luna is a beautiful red and rust European Doberman who's just 4 months old and she weighs 40lbs. Our vet actually told us she was a tad on the slim side and it wouldn't hurt if she gained a pound or two. Her mother is imported from Serbia with some russian genes in the mix and her father is a champion here from Norway. Love your channel ✌️
