Cherry eye is a common condition inherited in large dog breeds. They have three eyelids rather than two – and the problem is caused when the tear gland in the third eyelid becomes swollen and red, covering part of the eye. Anti-inflammatory drops help reduce the swelling or it can be removed by vets through a process referred to as tucking.
