Adine and her team share a few moments during their morning walk with Khanyisa. Israel, a senior carer, is with Reply, still giving him guidance about understanding the big elephants of the Jabulani herd.
Shepherd, Last and Owen were taking the daily dung samples of some of the elephants which we send to labs to get tested for the elephants’ stress hormones.
Khanyisa had a great morning and gulped her milk down, which was fortunate, as Tokwe decide she wanted her head right over Khanyisa as she was drinking. As you can imagine, her head and tusks are weighty and could cause serious harm if descending onto Herman. Last assisted, giving Herman some space. Timisa soon joined in, much like yesterday, and was no doubt looking for some milk of her own!
It was soon time to head back for Khanyisa, and Lundi and Bubi walked her back to the orphanage. Adine took some lovely footage (pun intended!) of their long walk back. We hope you find it as soothing as we did!
Lundi’s trunk lifted into the air as she caught the scent of fresh grapefruits waiting for them at the orphanage. Elephants have an exceptional sense of smell!
As they arrived, Herman had the grapefruits ready for them, and Reply had some freshly made milk just for Khanyisa!
We hope you enjoy the long video. Look out for Khanyisa’s little sprint past Lundi as they were walking!

Magnificent animal
I never see this herd taking a mud bath or a water bath.
Will you ever let them breed again?
What beautiful creatures. Good to know that they are safe and able to live a good life. Wonderful to witness the trust that the elephants had with the men when the baby was being fed. What language is the commentator speaking when not speaking English?
But I is so loving n kind to baby
What determines who is the Matriarch?
I know the bulls fight for supremacy.

Khanysia has stolen so many hearts worldwide, a diamond in the rough.
I loved this video. It so much more fascinating when you interact w/each other and also w/us. Explaining what and why you are doing something to the herd. I adore that baby, but I also love the Matriarch . 🐘🐘 Love from Texas 🇨🇱🇺🇸💖

Look at Khanyisa walking along! a real member of a real herd – her herd.
…to see her somewhat fragile baby state in January, to present and how confident and happy she's become with the amazing Jabulani herd, and the environment, all credit to those at HERD, remarkable work.
Hats off to Reply for nerves of steel while feeding baby K under Tokwe's tusks and being crowded by huge bodies on two sides! Loved seeing Zindoga who's often off doing his own thing…

Lundi’s poor ear. I know it doesn’t hurt her but it makes me wonder how it happened
That was incredible. Best wishes to all and my prayers are with you all.
Amazing collaboration between elephants and humans to protect and educate baby Khanyisa! Have a great day!
Lovely to see Khanyisa and Bubi big and little elphants eat the leaves and the tree.
Does Mambo annoy Tokwe ,the Matriark as he was Bubi ?
