personally I feel like if you’re going to make claims there should be follow up information, like why is the white doberman a headache?
Cropping and docking does make sense. You followed it up by saying they are guard dogs.
Cropping their ears allows them to hear better, docking the tail helps them in fights.
I should say that all my Dobies were already docked and cropped, so I do not have the experience of dealing with their healing process.
Man genetically produced breeds with floppy ears. Any of those in the wild?
I am adopting a Doberman who’s 3 and never had his ears or tail done. I think it’s barbaric
Dobermans can also get a condition called Wobbler's syndrome. My dog had it and after awhile he couldn't stand well anymore so we had to put him down. He was around 10yrs old.
Dobermans exemptionly well with children
Our very first Doberman was of Warlock descent ,she lived for 14 years. We then went on to breed & raise them for 20+ years. We've always cropped ears & docked tails. They are a very regal dog ,protective & loving as well. They protected our daughter with all they had. We had several pass from cancer, and some had a disorder called Pica . We would never own any other dog…they are truly the 👌 best.
Really tired of computer voices… seems like a book report from a 12 yr old. This video only gives the top of the cake.
From my experience with 2 dobies , I agree with most of the # 10. Except the one regarding grooming. They are very easy to groom. According to me, they are very demanding dogs because of their incredible level of energy, and extremely high level of barking all the Time! Yet they are sweet and very affectionate companions.
Cardiomyopathy is the main issue and generally exhibits around five to seven years old. At two years old there are two tests that are recommended a holter test records pvc’s for twenty four hours. There is an acceptable number allowed and if the dog exceeds that number it is suspect and the dog can be put on heart meds. VWD is the blood issue you mentioned but it isn’t very prevalent as my wife has been breeding these dogs for over thirty five years and has never had a dog with VWD. Your statement about these dogs with young children is also absolutely wrong as you can go onto YouTube and pull up hundreds of videos that will prove you wrong. My wife raised her son with Dobermans from and infant to adulthood and the dogs were great. You really should go to the AKC Breeder referral list and contact the breeders on the list for better insight of this breed. Oh my wife is one of those people on the breeder referral list.
This video strikes me as someone who doesnt have real experience with dobies. This is the best dog you could ever have. For me there is none better.
They come in 9 different colors.
The worst part of this is that they’re bad with young children. I’ve had Dobes for over 50 years. They’re very good with children.
Please only give commentary from a knowledgeable point of view, not from reading articles.
Wtfever, my dobies are super kind with my babies. Do your homework. Raise one around your kids quit quoting what you read or heard
They do not require alit of grooming !!
They are gentle with children
This author does not seem to know a lot about Dobermans
This is NOT a quality video. Someone had an agenda and doesn't really know the breed.
What type cross breed mix breed with doberman will make it calmer less energy level but still have good watch guardian for instinct…maybe also smaller size…doberman is such an amazing do breed…I think doberman wirh great dane is good mix …any others?
My Doberman, Wilson, would hold the flashlight for the burgler…but people didn't KNOW that, so he was a good deterrent.
DCM you missed… say it with me DILATED CARDIOMYOPATHY… yea that’s the number 1 killer in this amazing breed.. it happens sometimes very quickly and very devastating. You should always do genetic testing before purchasing a Doberman so that you are fully aware of the dogs future.. I k ow this all too well I adopted a pure bred at 5 months old papers legit no inbreeding nowhere sadly one day he collapsed on me .. he was always full of energy and love the most out going happy go lucky normal dog , I sprang into action I knew nothing about DCM but I first felt the throat (cause he was eating when it happened) and I felt his heart (stopped) no medical training at all , I got my dog back sadly even with responding to the right treatment he left me 6 months later at only 6 yo.. I couldn’t save him that time and I’ll tell you now there will never be a dog that will ever love you more than a Doberman.. since he left February 2020 there’s a massive hole in my heart . To this day I have not even attempted to think of getting another dog.. my fear is always comparing a new dog to the one I had, and that’s not fair to the dog because all humans are different and all dogs are different but that bond of love can never be replaced.. blessed for the amazing life I could give him when he was doomed as a puppy and didn’t have a chance to even see another day because someone worthless owned him.. sorry for the jabber…
What I really know about Doberman ,in the few last year I got a female Doberman of two years ,she was very friendly ,but when it comes to its babies ,she ate all the dead , I like Doberman dogs.
A really important point you missed out is their "difficult stages".
Between the ages of 6 and 12 months, approximately 75% of dobermans are given up, due to the absolute difficulty in their behaviour.
Then there is another stage at around 2 years old, where they can display aggressive and again, very challenging behaviour.
My European doberman displayed both of these at these ages, and I found it tremendously difficult, but we got through it.
I am picking up my white doberman in January from a friend who has gone through extensive DNA testing of the parents and flew to different countries for the male and female. NO animal should be told not to purchase, every animal deserves an opportunity at life. Can't wait to prove to everyone like my friend has with his 2 white dobermans that they are fantastic family oriented pets.
One must consider the difference between a working dog and a companion dog. A working dog needs regular exercise and tasks to solve like guarding a fenced area or as a messenger dog or like a sniffer dog etc. Well a Doberman is firs and foremost a working dog but can be a true companion and a family dog as well.
Politically correct woke idiots a doberman does not look good with his ears down my gosh some itch is all they suffer from.
That dog is not mean he just hates padded sleeves. .:D
1. I love the velcro doberman. No issue for me in 1 its why I am getting one which will probably be my last. My dobie passed at 13 few months ago.. . second one many of my dobermans lived well into 15 years old. Depends on the genetics. Most of my males however passed at around 9 years old .3 they only come in one color but only a filtered down of black are the other shades.. 4. they have more intelligence than the owner most times.. 5. they are protective not so aggressive but I have had some that dont' even like other dogs.. 6. Cropping is good because of the ear is naturally standing its floppy ears that was bred into the dog out of wolf lines.. 7. They are over 10 dogs they feel that made the doberman breed. So if you like a dog breed its in there.. 😀 8.. They don't need much grooming at all but once a week brushing. Maybe a bath monthly if your dog is needing brushed your dog food needs to be improved.. 9. I never had kids but have rescued and placed dobermans into other homes, It is total BS they are not for children. It depends on temperament I placed one dog with a family of an autistic child and the child would actually converse only with the dog. One of my dobermans went to a family with a tiny baby who got out of its crib and almost to the road. The doberman brought the child back by its diaper as the family searched frantically for it. That dog save the babies life because it had almost made it to a busy road it was a toddler that everyone thought the other was watching.. So don't tell me there not for children.. 9. white dobermans are genetic defective never buy one or promote this dog .. has many health issues as well. 10. heart issues as well as stomach issue . I buy a slow motion eating bowl that slows down there ablitiy to eat fast but also giving water right after they eat is not recommened which can also cause bloat. meat based dog food. recommended. I feed taste of wild.. This is a 63 year doberman owner and rescue over all my life since the 70's of owning them.. Just adding to this video and maybe my own put on things.
Whoever wrote the script for this video doesn't know very much about Dobermans. A lot of incomplete and inaccurate information.
