      I COMPLETELY DISAGREE! My Dobie was professionally trained and was never "squirly". They are working dogs…they need exercise/a job to do everyday. They are very aware of their environment and always ready to protect you but the most loving family dog you can have.

      Why are so many dog trainers so very inarticulate? Dobies aren't "spacey" or "squirrely"; they are the opposite: SHARP and FOCUSED. Congratulations, you have managed to get matters precisely backwards.

      I have had Dobermans all my life for exception of my German Shepherds and I will say they are great dogs. Yes you have to give them your time and every dog is different in their temperament. It’s definitely not a leave and forget it dog but then why have the animal if that’s your attitude.

      That's because you have your Doberman trained as a "guard dog". I have a Doberman as well and yes he pays attention but nothing to the level in which you're implying.

      This why I can't have dogs. I can't have something up on me 24 7 in my face. I cant take the constant on my ass , stepping on my feet, sitting there looking at me all day, whining. I'd rather have no pets at all. Not to mention they all die fast and most breeds have been ruined by breeders.

      This guy doesn't know what he's talking about.I don't like what this guy had to say about Dobermans. They are the smartest dog's. They saved my nephew and niece from being abducted back in the 80's. He chased the wackadoo weirdo out of our development. Came back and sat down and watched over them again. My neighbor seen the whole thing and could not get outside fast enough. Thank God my doberman was there to protect my niece and nephew. Thank you Jesus.

      Generalizations are worthless. We have had every bully breed over the years and currently still have our 16 year old Dobie, Roscoe.
      We have 4 daughters and 10 grandkids that have loved Roscoe along with our pitties, Rotties, cane corso….
      Raise them with lots of love, make sure your kids are not the problem….you’ll be fine.

      This only applies American Dobermans, which are bred much more for show than obedience/protection.

      Original European purebreds typically don't possess such fidgety and nervous traits and are much more stoic and calm while retaining their alert protection instincts.

      Man I love my dobie lol yes this dog isn’t for everyone! But to not recommend a breed is kinda weird 🤣🤣🤣 it’s like not recommending a Lamborghini because it’s extremely fast and expensive. Everything isn’t for everyone

      I have a friend that has a Doberman…. he is 115 pounds and he is afraid of squirrels and birds, and a huge pushover with anyone one and anything….. other dogs always bully him..
      But at least he has the presents he gives cuz other then that… he will actually run away then protect and stand his ground

      My girl had super prey drive and was always on patrol. She was a sweetly tho. Took her to class and even had students draw her til she passed away. What worked for me was the E collar. They are just so full of energy and when they dart off nothing gets their attention as well as an E collar.
