They are EXTREMELY smart!!! Years ago they came out with the list of 'smartest' breeds and the basset was 72 out of 79!!! Obviously someone didn't know how to administer the test!!!! They do WHAT they want, WHEN they want! I've had 5 so far and a bloodhound concurrently over 30 years and I LOVE them! However I always point out every single negative trait to people because I hate seeing them end up in rescue because people can't handle the barking or the shedding (or drooling but none of mine or my bloodhound have been droolers). If people can pass that test then by all means, get one! I've rescued 3 out of my 6 (2 bassets and the bloodhound) but for first time owners I really recommend a puppy. I'm not always a huge fan of rescues as they can be really particular, especially with older people who are willing to adopt (I've seen this happen).
I have always loved basset hounds. They are so beautiful to me. I don't think there are any where I live and I sure don't think there are any in the animal shelters not around here. They may be very expensive to buy and that I could never do at this point in my life anyway.
Many do not know, but they will bond with multiple people in home, not just one.
I can personally think of another reason ladies.
YES, LONG LIVE CHRIST THE KING! He existed before time, and He made our dear Bassets!
I have owned three, and currently I am Bassetless, but so long to have another one or even two. Please pray that the Lord would open the door for me to have another one! There is a great responsbility in having them, and they do have health issues, and you need to have some money to keep them in good health, feeding them, bathing them, and taking care of them as if they were your own child! It is something you can never take litely.
I love Rosie! Basset hounds are wonderful dogs. So much personality.
Look at that dignified lady.
you can use the basset hound to find free drugs
What a happy dog you have there!
I had a pet pig when I was a kid back in the early 1980's & my pig & my basset hound were best friends. I still have old Polaroids of them too together
I heard they really can't be potty trained
I love Rosie 🌹
Basset hound people are silly people too. I've never met a bad basset owner. They are the best dogs
Красавчик!!!
This video popped in my feed today, I watched it in bed with my Basset hound Dexter laying snuggled up on my side 🥰. He turns 6mos on the 18th!
Hi,
We have a beautiful 6-month-old tricolor European Basset, she's adorable, funny and smart, we just love her! Your vids helped a lot!! Thank you
Best,
Attila (from Budapest, Hungary)
Amazing
I have one and she is fricking cute
Bassett hounds are like living with a cartoon character. Live my boy Turbo
I love basset hounds because I use to have a dog that was part basset hound and part beagle and her name was tootsie she was my best friend she had the head the face and the short ears of a beagle and the body the short legs and tail of a basset hound but she's in heaven now she passed away when she was 8 and I was 11 and now I am 31 she was a beautiful dog
I have a Basset Hound who is now 13 years old. They are very smart and loving, but extremely loyal and intuitive. There persona is so unique unlike other breeds. I love all dogs, but my dog Maggie has that special something you just can never ignore. She is the owner of this house…and she knows it. haha
Can these dogs survive extreme heat even if it's only 30 mins a day outside, like if they can live in hot parts of Asia? 🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵 Thanks
The best most lovable dogs ever… they are so friendly and sweet and funny, not sure about intelligence, all mine have been pure stupid,,, but I love them all soooo much.
I absolutely love my boy blu. Best dog I’ve ever had
Ive watched this video many times. It's so soothing to see Rosie and you together. I'm very happy for you and your family. My basset Jordan brought nothing but joy.
rosie is so unique looking yet such a classic basset hound. i’m taking one basseloney home myself at the end of this month, she’s an approaching 4yo retired breeding dog rescued from this backyard breeder. hope the settling process goes well, plenty of options for napping places to choose from in my new apartment. my only concern would be her barking, especially when i’m out for work… any advice?
They get a bad rap for not being smart, but they are exceptionally smart. They just are stubborn and have their own views on things.
My 2 basset hounds are rescues. Adopt don’t shop!
I agree 100% and we love our little guy; we have a 6 month old male Basset hound and we have had him since 7 weeks of age. One thing that I hope you can answer for us is: when he's playing he can be very aggressive but when he's not playing he is very sweet and affectionate. How can we control this agression?
