Cairn Terrier:
Hailing from the Isle of Skye within the Scottish Highlands, the Cairn terrier is an ancient breed.
They were utilized by farmers to catch and kill mice, squirrels, rabbits and other rodents.
The Cairn was originally known as the short-haired Skye terrier until they were brought to the UK’s dog show in 1909.
Sky terrier breeders did not take well to the name and a compromise was reached with the name Cairn terrier.
They would often root out rodents from their hiding places under mounds of stones that were used as memorials or to mark boundaries, often at the top of hills.
The mounds are called Cairns, and this is where the name for the breed derived.
Today, Cairns are confident show dogs and companions. They still hunt vermin and have a strong prey drive.
In 1913, the Cairn received recognition from the American Kennel Club (AKC) under their terrier group.

This video seems to show some pictures of Yorkshire terriers, not Cairns. The Yorkies appear to be the tri-colored dogs with finer hair that look nothing like a typical Toto dog.
We have a Salt and Pepper,Carin named Pepper, and always knew His Characteristics we're kind of a goodly Odd,, He's a handful sometimes but He's a lovable personality that the Family needed
Hard to like this video when the majority of photos are not of Cairns.
Half these pics aren’t Cairns
I had a wonderful Cairn as a boy. He was like my shadow. Went everywhere with me. A lovely breed.
Not cairns and not a human talking. All fake!
Why are you showing Yorkies?
Along with the Yokies shown, there was a picture of a Scottie as well. BUT overall, the information on the Cairn was good.
I grew up with cairns!
The dog with the woman and groomer is a Yorkshire Terrier, it is not a Cairn. This video is not accurate or correct.
Many of the dogs shown are not Cairns, but other types of terriers.
Cairns are the best dogs in the world
Love my cairn top little dogs
We had a Cairn Terrier before and loved her so much for 17 years (due to liver failure); my son once in a while told us he would have to have another one when he reaches 5 (he likes other breeds too, and he can distinguish between a westie vs. a cairn)
