I just love watching your videos! Your days with Sully sounds exactly like my days with Kalina.. She will be 5 months on Thanksgiving and she is trying to jump on the kitchen counter and she can take her blanket and wrap it around a kitchen table chair and move it just enough where she can get on the table, which I’m not thrilled about but I do have to laugh… She’s not jumping from the couch onto the coffee table as much anymore…The big test is going to be when I decorate for Christmas… I have a feeling I’m going to be using the words “leave it” a lot.. We’re going to take her when we go see the Christmas lights, that should be fun.. ❤️
Owned by a cattle dog…how true that is!!! lol My Cookie will be 5 mos on Thanksgiving…she's nosing the trash and I'm constantly picking up tissue confetti! lol Love the videos!
Rocket and Reina are 3 months and 6 days old. We are actually taking them on 1 hour walks. Rocket has stamina Reina actually wants to be carried on the way back and sees her brother smelling smells and then she wants to go back down. They have been jumping too because they know if they’re lucky they might snatch a treat while we are trying to get them to sit. Rocket knows how to “turn” it’s the cutest thing ever. Reina is the best with kids hardly nips since day one. Rocket on the other hand will bite it all even some kitchen corners. None the less we love them so much and it’s so fulfilling to see their growth and their own characteristics
Didn't think about night walking due to the different sounds and sights. Will have to start that — thank you for bringing it up and sharing. I love the way Sully looks at you with adoration. He really is bonded to you. The only way I know my girl likes me is when I leave her for a few minutes, she gets anxious until I return. It isn't the same like my dogs in the past. Hopefully we will grow into that bond.
Why if I take her 1 & 2 before we walk, she still has to do 2 again — LOL. Twice while walking she was leaving a trail behind on the sidewalk, I said no, and moved her to the curb to finish. On the 3rd and 4th time, she would bump me while walking looking up nervously. I took her to the curb and she did her duty. This morning she wasn't walking as great heeling and after a few corrections realized I needed to curb her … yup that was it. She continued the walk perfectly afterwards. She receives accolades from neighbors on how well trained she appears to be during our walks, heeling and sitting every time I stop — little do they know. ha ha ha. Truthfully, she doesn't bite me and behaves great on our walks. She is like a whole different dog.
She is now 6.2 months old (50 +/- lbs), she loves to look on the kitchen counter to see what she can steal. She even reached the paper towels to tear off a square to eat. She chewed within seconds the loop off one of my pot holders too. She still insists to walk in between my legs — I don't walk wide so she quickly nudges her nose to force her way through. Freaks me out at night when she does that during her potty time. Several times I had to catch my step — I can recover now if I fall but in 5 years, who knows.
When she gets worked up or needing to unwind or when I leave for a few minutes and return seems when she starts uncontrollably jumping on me. It hurts and she has a lot of power. Still working on it to get her to stop. If I can get her to stop that and biting, I can tolerate all her mischievous puppy stuff. However, she has really improved and the past couple of weeks have been great … well, great for her.
I am excited my mobility scooter will arrive in two days. I am now strong enough to walk up and down two blocks, not the two miles I was at a few weeks ago. I will have to train Bella to get use to walking beside it and hopefully I will be able to have her run in the future. I chose the model that looks like a mini golf cart with headlights, turn signals, brake lights, small enough to be legal to drive on sidewalks or bike paths, go into stores, but rugged enough to be all terrain and long range for nature walks (Afikim C model). Later, may consider a larger all terrain model if it seems I will be doing more outdoor activities and keep the one I bought for grocery shopping and such.. (No tag fee, insurance, or annual taxes — win win)
Not that I'm a medical anything, but maybe you need a mobile knee brace now, before you actually badly injure it. Were the other dogs big jumpers? My boy thought that he could almost fly, and we had to take a specific large chunk of time learning to stay on the ground, especially when grandma almost reconsidered her unconditional love for the Dumper, when he launched himself at her face multiple times. As for other dogs (and people) Dumpling is a particular dunce. He is so so smart at learning tricks and chores and doing puzzles, but he thinks every dog is either his friend, or something to hide from, and same with people. He's never been aggressive, even with annoying little attack yippers. If a random dog growls at him, he might continue right in to smell butts, wagging his tail the whole way, while the other dog tries to back away. I just have to remove him from the whole interaction. He's a little bit too happy, and doesn't know what's best for him.
First time ACD owners here 🙂 when will my 4month pup stop being a velociraptor 😂 I can't even pet him without getting my hands mauled hahaha. Is this something I just need to wait out or are there any tips to stop the biting? He is just playing and I love him lots. and I know pups can be like this but just curious for your thoughts! ♥️
Hi there! I have loved watching your videos of sully. I have a 5 month old blue Heeler named Lola. She is overall AMAZING! But we have discovered that her herding drive is very strong but only towards certain dogs. Seems to only do it with dogs who are submissive to her or are longer haired. Have you come across this with any of your other heeler pups or do you have any advice? I would love for Lola to be able to play nicely with dogs or at least not want to heard dogs.
Very informative… my cattle dog is 9 months old and doing a lot of the same things. He likes to chew on furniture, jumping and nipping. The newest thing is barking more often. It’s very stressful and will be so happy when the puppy stage is over!!! Thanks for your content

Our puppy was running outside and caught me off guard when he ran into me and hyperextend my knee! 🤕

His talking back when you tell him to stay is adorable haha!
