I am also a fellow Basenji owner! Haven't see many training videos featuring them. But must say, disappointing as the kennel size is far to small for Benji.
Kennel training is so important. We have a very big Kennel. Our Basenji stays there if we have to leave. He feels safe there and is sleeping till we return. At the moment i can not leave him alone outside the kennel, otherwise he will disturb something. Kennel is safe for him and for us 😊
Why the frick would you expect the dog to do something without giving them any cues as to what you want?
That’s just bizarre! I mean, I get there are all different types of training options out there… at least you aren’t purposely scaring the dog. But giving it no information and expecting it to understand?
Good advice but crate is FAR to small for that dog so a bit worrying you are advocating that small crate for that size dog. He cant even stand in there comfortably with his head held at normal height
That kennel is NOT too small! I had a dog with severe crate anxiety, and during my research I found out that dogs feel safer and more secure in a smaller crate because it mimics a den. In the wild canines will dig dens for themselves, not caves. The den usually has a very small entrance, and is snug on the inside, which they like. Getting a smaller kennel that was solid on all sides (other than the holes for air circulation and the door) made my dog feel alot safer, and he started sleeping in it when he didn't even have to be in it. I don't like those kind of kennels (the one being used) because they are too open, the dog feels like it has no cover or protection, just a sitting duck, plus they can chew on the bars and damage teeth.

…Positive reinforcement is the only constructive way to train a Basenji.
We’re did you get him

I wish I could post a pic of what one of mine did to the crate. I'll only say that I had no idea their jaws were that strong.
I don't think blocking the dog from getting out with your legs is a very good way of doing this… Maybe just close the door?

That cage is too small. I’m sure that’s just for an example
Why put a beautiful, well trained dog into a cage in the first place.
You talk too fast. I have to keep the CC turned on.

thats insane because my basenjis name is also benji!
My basenji could work the latches on his kennel. He became a couch dog, at least he doesnt smell.
This guy clearly had no idea what he's doing ! The dog is given no guidance on what's expected from him…
Or "how not to train your puppy"
i am thinking about getting a basenji soon, great dogs but hard to train
This guy's spot on ! I'm on my 3rd basenji and he knows how these stickers are ! Lol 😆
I put a blanket over the cage at night, calmed him down through the night
kennel size???
So this guy likes being obsessed with.
