As the name suggest, this dog breed has distinctive tail. They are called Stumpy tail, because it is common for the dog to lack the tail. But, the tail should not be docked. 1. Awesome info , great job ! The red dogs are mine , Bandit – longtail, Mack – stumpy tail and
Rust – nub tail . Only Stumpy Tail cattle dogs for me !

  2. I've grown up around this breed my whole life and I currently own one myself. My favorite breed! Beautiful and very intelligent dogs. I'll always have this breed living alongside me in my life

  3. This is the true story in 1822 a cattle staion ower from Aberdeen hunter vally nsw named Thomas hall got dingos and breed them with the bobbed tale CUR or the drovers dog of norththumberland over 8 years producing the halls heelers 40 years later the breed split when a stockman named Timmons used only the halls heelers with the bobbed tale traits producing the Timmons bitter aka stumpy tale and the halls heelers aka blue/red heelers went the other way only breeding the long tale creating two different pure bloodlines

  4. Thank you for the video. Is it Timmons Bitter, or Timmons Biter? Timmons Biter sounds more appropriate, but I'm not entirely sure.

  5. I DNA tested my stumpy tail and it came out 100% Australian cattle dog. Are they the same thing? because my stumpy tail is extremely different from my Australian cattle dog. But they're the same thing lol might just be their personalities

  6. my Australian stumpy cattle dog is all of those things .. he’s one of thee best dogs i have ever owned .. He’s 10 and one thing we just found out today is he has lymphoma. He just had his first round of chemotherapy and we hope we can manage it for him to be happy and be able to finish his life with us happily. thank you for this video . it made me so happy to see .. thank you

  7. We rescued Hobo in 2016. He chose my Wife and is incredibly devoted to and protective of her, even with me. He is very emotional, vocal, obedient and intelligent. With no professional help I am confident to walk Hobo off-leash 95% of the time. I remember the first time he approached an on-leash dog when he was off-leash. I called him to stop, asked him to come here and told him to walk with me. He walked on my hip perfectly. So smart. Check out his insta, hobo_the_stumpy_tail. Thanks for the video.

  8. I have a red stumpy tail mixed with jack Russell terrier !! she’s basically a shorter version of these lovely dogs with unique coloring lol

  9. I have a Stummy X retriever. So I am told. She is 1000% stumpy. her cattle dog instinct isn't extreme. She believes her job is protecting our home and property. Which isn't fenced in though She never leaves the deck overlooking the entrance to the property. She also treats protecting me and my family seriously. Whether it's other animals like raccoons and coyotes or God forgive a person. She is super loving and smart. It does take time with new dogs and people. That being said if I am present and greet the person She is normally totally fine and loving to them. If you are looking for loyalty and love the heeler is at the top of that list.

  10. I'm in California and rescued a little red Stumpy 10 years ago. They are called Heelers or Queenslands here and are more common than you might expect. I wish I could send you a pics on my Cherry Bomb. She's the very best pup!
I enjoyed your vid! Thank you!

  11. I love my Stumpy. We rescued her at 2-1/2 years. She just turned 8. We keep her weight down and exercise her every day. We are retired and live in an RV. She is very well behaved, and loyal. She loves to bark! Except when she's on "guard dog duty", when she doesn't say a peep!

  12. best dog I ever had was a stumpy, my 14 year old mix breed just came down with Cancer and I'm looking for a new stumpy any info would be great , thank you

  13. We have a 52% Australian cattledog rescue mixed with 6 kinds of hounds with a stumpy tail. She's a big wiggle butt and often when in "rascal" stealing something she shouldn't, she turns into a C both left and right. She's a joy to have and matches a lot of your descriptors. Very protective of the family and a big lover of play and exercise.

  14. My Dog is a mixed breed Dog,but She is brave, rough and herds My grown Nephew into His room where She feels He belongs.

  15. I have a Stump Double Cattle Dog (Australian Cattle Dog (Heeler) x Australian Stumpy Tail Cattle Dog mix) and a Basset Heeler (Australian Cattle Dog (Heeler) x Basset Hound mix).

  16. I'm pretty sure I have an ACD x Stumpy tail mix. You'd hardly be able to tell he wasn't a purebred ACD except for his long legs and his color being pure blue like the stumpy.
