Last tomato update for our 2014 growing season. So this sad bunch here is what’s left of our crop, next to polaroids I took last Fall right before each plant started fruiting. Over New Year’s, our area of SoCal dropped below freezing at night, can you believe it?! The pavement was iced over and there was frost on our grass. And sadly, our little garden didn’t stand a chance. The frost swiftly and effectively destroyed all our plants overnight 😭. Some of the heftier tomatoes (shown here) developed some Yayoi Kusama-like spots and hung on for dear life while most of the others basically turned to mush. We’re hoping and praying these survivor tomatoes will ripen off the vine! As first time growers, we’ve learned so much this past season but most of all developed a profound appreciation and admiration for the hands who grow the food we eat (from farmers markets to supermarkets!) We will never look at a tomato the same way again. Looking forward to when Ha Farms reopens in the Spring! 🍅💚 #tomatoes #urbangardening #organic #farmtotable #growyourowntomatoes #onthetable #fromthegarden #hafarm🌱
