  1. My basenji appears in this video on 4:25, he was one of three Basenjis, and reached the age of 15.5 years before he passed away…stubborn in the most adorable way, persistent to travels and change of environment, and constantly up for new adventures and challenges…the best friend one can ever wish for… 🙂

  2. I had two basenjis that live to just short of 18 years I have waited to get another one which is now too I love them I recommend these dogs to people with patients only they are excellent and will give you much love and can be the perfect pet my first experience was when I was about 10 and I had a Basenji with no registration but he started me on my trip to love basenjis as an adult in my older age

  3. I have a mix puppy now almost 7 months. I was told he was chihuahua and perhaps whippet mix. But he looks EXACTLY like a Basenji! He definitely is hard to train. He likes to get into everything and picks up things and runs off with them. Anything I set down he things is fair game. He's run off with pens, headphones, and a small flashlight. He continually shreds any paper he comes across. He is indifferent to scolding so I have to keep a really close eye on him. He's adorable and knows it and has the cutest way of creeping up to get cuddles or play time.
He makes me laugh all the time. One thing I have not been able to stop him doing is mouthing my hand so I always have to have a toy handy for substitute. I agree, if this is the Basenji temperament, he would not make a good first time pet. And I'm sad that he would not be safe around small animals since I was hoping for a small rodent or bird. He is often naughty but he is also very affectionate and a good companion. He can bark probably because he is a mix, but he also makes weird yodeling sounds. I've been mostly a chihuahua owner and he is nothing like one. But I guess I'm in for the ride.

  4. They can be bossy. If I don’t go and pick up the mail after the dog has alerted that the mailman has come, do shoves me with her face to hurry me along.

  5. Hi everyone we have been looking for a puppy tricolor for about a year and a half .. I got taken at craigslist for $1600. It has become so difficult. I spoken to professionals that only breed champions. . I have spoken to all the breeders we could find a puppy near-or far and around the country. I’ve had no luck except one lady in California She had thought that her dog was pregnant. After ultrasound she was very disappointed , because of the money that She spent and that. she wasn’t going to have new puppies. That was the last of our conversation I have not heard anything back after several emails. She was very professional until, she realized that the dog was not pregnant. I just hope she didn’t fall sick.If anyone can help me and my family to get a puppy tricolor. We will be very grateful. My family needs it and I’m slowly starting to lose interest because of the difficulties. Please help us find a puppy .
    Much appreciate it, stay blessed

  6. I have a question about a Basenij but he barks is there other breeds mix with him he looks like a Basenij long legs and a white curled tail

  7. They are NOT kid friendly. They are far too energetic for an apartment. Some Basenjis do not shed. I had one girl who molted three times a year. They are very aggresive hunting dogs.
