The Staffy breeds get a bad reputation from their dark history, but they’re also known to have lock jaw, meaning that once they clamp their jaws down on something, it can become impossible to release.
Well, lock jaw in Staffies is a myth. Lock jaw in any animal, is a myth. The only difference between dog breeds and other animals is the force in which they can bite down. Staffy breeds don’t even make the top 10 dogs with the strongest bite force.
So, lock jaw is a myth, and there are much stronger dogs out there than the Staffordshire Bull Terrier or American Staffordshire Terrier. 🦴

Awesome video.. And Thank for the free staffy training guide.
This is a brilliant channel, very informative and enjoyable to say the least, the lockjaw issue has been around for a long time, but there's no truth to it as you rightly said, thank you for another wonderful video.
Also they are very selective in what they do bite down on. With our girl when we play wrestle her bite is very gentle. Can't say much for her toys or Kong's 🤣
If you think a pitbull has a weaker bite than a staffy you are not on this planet, also a German shepherd have huge bite force so too does the rottweiler. Pitbulls are generally known to be very hard mouthed but some pits bite much harder than others.
Very informative and interesting, but I seriously doubt that anyone believes that staffies (or similar breeds) genuinely have 'lockjaw'. It's just a simplistic term for the way they tend to hold on to things/other dogs etc. that they 'grab' – and with which, they have no intention of 'letting go'…..
Please don't misunderstand, I LOVE staffies and similar breeds – they are lovely dogs, but need a good 'owner'.
You can’t rate a small dogs bite against a huge dogs bite lol
Bull shit
BULL shit
How could a staffy have a stronger bite than a American Stafford . Casual research
Lock jaw is a reference term not literal…mechanicaly all jaw bones on all dogs are the same..just like the leg bones on a Greyhound are the same..but we know this dog can smoke any dog on the race track. Staffys have bull baiting qualities…bites strength is just one of many factors why a certain breed can inflict more damage over another..example a Lab can can exert the same pressure..however a Lab cant sustain that pressure for long periods ..Staffys can ( Lock jaw appearence) and cam jump up high ..hang full body off a rope and shake it for long periods…and the shaking is what does all the damage not so much bite, Staffys have superior neck strength over Labs.Labs have very weak necks in comparison. Labs dont have bull baiting qualities in them. Labs are for swimming retrieving.
Lock jaw would need a mechanism in bone that locks into place. I think either no animal has it or something does.
But dogs definitely don't some dogs just have incredible jaw muscles but sraffy bite is way way over rated. They are still a small dog.
Im way more nervous about my Belgium Shepherd biting me than I ever was about my staffy.
Especially since my staffy would never bite a hunan unless over excited playing he'd jump up people and nip them draw blood well one friend once.
But my Belgium Shepherd stalks me circles me heavily panting for no reason. I turned my back on him yesterday and he grabbed my neck. Growls at people and he's only 12wks.
I get real tough on him and just have to hope he chills TF out soon.
Maligator is their nick name. He's made me bleed atleast 6x in 6wks. But not aggressively. Not yet. But does guard his treats growls at me but hadn't snapped at me yet. YET.
Im considering an E collar tbh
