The cat got caught up in the cord, not the blinds. The cord of blinds are dangerous, sometimes fatal, for children and pets. They should be tucked up.

My cat died from that. His "S" hook on his collar from the vet tag snagged it when he jumped from the bay window when we were gone. I dont know why I ever even collared my cat then anyway because he was an indoor cat but he had a bell on it and I could hear where he was in our big house. That was when I heard of the break away collars after his passing but they don't always work either. Crazy how dangerous blind strings are for cats.
Do yourselves a favor and replace them with the new ones that have no cords. When I had young children, and before they came out with cordless ones, I tied the strings so that they were short and out of reach.
That will definitely hang any kids that come to visit

We got a kitty who was stuck all day. Owner came home and leg had to be amputated. ALWAYS tuck up the cord high!

Yea we had that happen too but only our cat had it around her throat she was choking but my mom was there in time to save her.
