Hey, fellow dog fanciers and whippeteers! My name is Addie, proudly owned by 6 gorgeous whippets currently (10 throughout the years), and I have been surrounded by pets since day 1. The world of show dogs, dog shows and responsible breeding has been keeping me busy since the age of 12 and this channel is especially created to educate on these controversial topics.

  1. Not letting your whippet off lead, I know a few whippet owners who are too nervous about letting their dogs off lead. I maybe guilty of giving in to the “can I have a biscuit” look myself 😂
Also crazy the nail clipping vid was now 3 years ago.

  2. The problem I always have with the nails, is the quicks are so long, you can't get the nail short enough. I know they're supposed to retreat if you go short enough, but that never seems to happen with mine.

  3. Do you really have a stray dog down the street? Have you considered to give that stray a future? It's not that dog's fault it wasn't born into a loving home.

  4. A useful tip regarding nails is to clip them after a rainy walk after the feet have been washed- the nail cuts much more easily without as much pressure and makes no ''SNIPP'' sound {the clippers are sharp}. take a jolly ''no nonsense'' attitude- the nails have to be clipped every couple of weeks.

  5. Regarding worms….my girl has always been wormed and is wormed- but every three months wasn't enough as she once passed a thrashing roundworm! {cat poo eater if she can find it} -she's wormed more frequently now and hasn't passed one since thank goodness 😅 I hate worms sooo much.

  6. I love your videos. Always funny and instructive. Admiring your beautiful whippets is always a pleasure. Taking care of nails is really demanding. I must confess I find it difficult. They are very long, but I cannot really reduce them as I reach the pink sensitive part very quickly.

  7. I am working with my 6 moths old whippet on his separation anxiety. We tried so many things and consulted 2 behaviourists and still no progress. He is our favourite little boy. We trained him from the beginning yet he still developed this sad condition. Do you have any advice?

  8. Whippets are such graceful, sensitive dogs—these mistakes can really impact their happiness! 🐾 Always remember: they need cozy spaces, gentle training, proper exercise, and lots of love.

  9. This was such an honest and genuinely helpful breakdown — thank you for being so candid about your own mistakes and growth as a lifelong whippet servant. I really appreciate how clearly you set expectations about what it actually means to be owned by a whippet, and how important it is to shape our routines and expectations around their bright personalities and breed tendencies, rather than expecting them to fit neatly into our human lives.

Because of creators like you, I don’t aim to be a “perfect” owner — I just try to keep improving my husbandry and the enrichment I bring to their lives every single day. Thank you for sharing your experience and helping us raise happier, healthier hounds. 🐾💛

  10. I have 3 whippets. The two younger ones are good with nail clipping although the middle one has very long quick so it's hard to get as short as I want. The oldest is a nightmare. He was Ok when very young and I made sure he never had a bad experience and was used to us touching his feet from a puppy – but just one day for no apparent reason, he threw a massive tantrum about it and has been hugely sensitive about it ever since. Won't take treats and if he sees them come out he'll run off so you can't let him know it's coming. He's worse with a nail grinder than with clippers (I used the grinder on previous dogs we had as they were better with that than the clippers). It's my absolutely least favourite task.

  11. The nail length stresses me so much. I have taken mine to 4 different vets over the years from moving and they have all told me to wait longer than a month because they couldn’t take off much without getting the quick. But to me his nails seem so long. I’ve tried doing it myself, but it’s like playing a game of Operation as he is so quick to yank his paw away.

  12. My boy’s rear nails basically took care of themselves, as we walked on concrete. He wouldn’t let me touch his front nails so I trained him to scratch at a sanding board. That worked a treat.

My girl eventually became super relaxed about getting her nails done with a dremmel. It took a while though and a reward of me showering her with affection turned up to 11ty million. She loved that part!

They both passed earlier this year – life has not been the same…

  13. My female Whippet is approx 33lbs, 5yrs old, which is a bit thick. I feed her a packaged raw food diet…what did you do and feed your dogs to lose weight?
