Esas tierras fueron parte de España que llevó perros de la Península Ibérica como los Alanos, y que obviamente la gente acabó cruzando con perros locales y llegados de otras zonas como los molosos que criaban por Italia como el Mastín Napolitano o el Cane Corso, y de ahí salió un perro rústico y álgil como el Alano español con algo más de corpulencia, boca y carácter de guarda. Siempre y cuando se hicieran los cruces adecuados con más carga de Alano que de Molosos, y se fueran seleccionado los mejores ejemplares de diferentes líneas, para luego cruzarlos entre sí, pasa fijar el fenotipo adecuado que conforma la raza.

We were gifted two puppies from the crossing of a brindle English Mastiff and an Irish Wolfhound. Our puppies looked nearly identical to the dogs shown in the video. It was difficult to get a sense of size of the Dogo Sardo. Our male was about 210 pounds.
