ウェスティを選んだ理由❤️ ウェスティ親子ポッドキャスト:エピソード2
In this episode of The Westie Parent Podcast, I’m answering a question from one of our YouTube subscribers:
👉 Why did we choose a Westie? And are they popular in Portugal?
I share the story of how me and my husband Bobby decided on a Westie instead of other breeds, what research we did, and why Sami turned out to be the perfect match for us. Hint: big dog vibes in a small dog body! 🐶
You’ll also hear about:
– The challenges of finding Westies in Portugal 🇵🇹
– What makes Westies such a unique and lovable breed
– How Sami’s sunny personality shines through (even on grumpy days!)
– Why I can’t imagine life with any other dog
Whether you’re a fellow Westie parent or just curious about the breed, this episode is full of stories, tips, and love for our favorite little terriers.

Ooooh!!!
New episode is out!!!!
Great to see you guys
Sami resting his chin on the arm is adorable.
Scratch his chin for me please 😊🫠🥰
Everything you say is true, our girl didn't smell at all and didn't shed much either. I would warn people that the "Westietude" is is a real thing and they are very independent at times 🙂. Our girl Emma was so great, we miss her, if we get another dog were going to get a Westie!
Haha my Westie was mistaken as Snowy many times too, but Tintin's dog Milou is a Wire Fox Terrier 😅
This is our second Westie. Love them!
Westies are indeed an incredible breed if you want a funny, loveable, intelligent, goofy, friendly, and oh yes, a stubborn dog, albiet their inherent propensity to allergies. My boy, from a very young age, not even one developed environmental allergies until his passing. Sometimes, it was bad, other times not so. However, he was always a happy, loveable and kind brother to his sister who never had any allergy issues. I tried everything, from allergen injections, to Prednizone, and later a milder steroid Temeril-P. You're correct in that all breeds have inhetent health issues.
I have lived with several different dogs in my lifetime – Schnauzer, Beagle, Shetland Sheepdog, Scottish Terrier (twice), and some mixed breeds, and they were all good dogs. However, the Westie is definitely my favorite. They are happy, friendly, loyal and confident little dogs. They may not be the best dog for every family but I personally would never want to be without one.
Get one Westie soon in December 2025. Currently we have our baby chi terrier. She is older dog and smart … hopefully this chi terrier can train Westie to be well mannered as well. 😅❤
I want you to know how much I love you and Sami. We have a Westiepoo that we rescued, and he truly means the world to us. My husband and I are thinking about moving to Portugal 🇵🇹, and I’m sure you might have an idea where I live. Thank you so much for sharing your life with Sami; it really touches my heart.🐶❤️
I have a Westie who will be 8 soon. Several groomers that I have used, suggested to me that hand stripper wasn't a good idea. We've just been having him get a normal Westie cut and it's worked out fine.
My Sugar was no more than 15 lbs (thats' about 7 kilos I think). So true about the big dog in a little package. The Westie-tude is real and I so miss it. She had one year of allergy. She had two shots (Spring/Fall) and she never had allergies after the one year (I think it was about year 9). It was always said that Westies aren't lap dogs but, my girl loved to be a couch potato with me and was my lap dog. Sammy's shape and build is just like Sugar's. I think I have told you this before, but he so reminds me of her and it makes me smile.
❤❤👏
Loved the second podcast, Maisy is our second Westie, the first was Milly and I would always get one as they are brilliant and cute ❤❤
Where did you get Samis dog shoes from? I have 2 westies and cannot find shoes that fit their feet.
We had 2 Westies, Hamish who lived to 151/2 & Heather who lived to 17. We miss them terribly and have a digital photo album which scrolls through the 100s of photos we have of them to remind us of how special they were. They most certainly have Westietude & that is why I love them!We are travelling a lot now but once we stop we are most definitely getting another westie and because of your fantastic videos & tips we will start feeding it with home cooked food as you have advised. Give Sami a huge snuggle from us & thank you for sharing him with us, love all your videos😊
Tintin! It’s from Belgium 🙂
❤Congratulations i liked very much westies
👏👏👏
We were blessed and fortunate to share our lives with Max for 15 years, and then Kuzco for 16 years, both westies were surrenders, I guess we were in the right place at the right time. Both males, but very different personalities, and I miss them both. I so love your videos and wish you many happy years with Sami..thank you for sharing him with us, and thank you for the excellent care you give him.
