There’s nothing like seeing puppies discover new toys for the first time 🐾⚽️. At just over 7 weeks old, our American Staffordshire Terrier pups are bursting with energy, curiosity, and playfulness — so today we surprised them with a few new things to keep them entertained, including a shiny new soccer ball.
Straight away, the backyard turned into a puppy playground. Purple, Stripe, and Blue all took turns chasing, pawing, and wrestling with the ball, each showing off their own unique personality in the process:
Purple — bold and cheeky, the first to jump in and claim the ball, pushing it around with confidence.
Stripe — clever and sneaky, hanging back at first before darting in at just the right moment to steal the spotlight.
Blue — strong and determined, trying to muscle the ball into place while the others circled around with playful barks.
It wasn’t long before the three of them were tangled together, rolling, growling, and having the time of their lives as they battled for control of their brand-new toy. The ball was almost as big as they were, but that didn’t stop them — in fact, it just made the game more fun.
At this age, toys aren’t just about fun — they’re an important part of puppy development. Play with objects like balls helps pups:
Learn coordination and balance
Build confidence with new textures and movement
Develop their problem-solving skills
Burn off that endless puppy energy in a positive way
Of course, the best part is the laughter and joy these moments bring. Watching them chase after the ball in the sunshine, with tails wagging and little paws scrambling, is the kind of memory that makes raising a litter so rewarding.
