    I started with a simple idea—what if I could turn plastic water bottles into 3D printer filament? After building a rough DIY machine and realizing it was a total fire hazard, I knew I had to make it safer, smarter, and way more reliable. With some help, I redesigned the system, rewired everything, and upgraded key parts like the hot end, pulley system, and cutter. Now, I can cut, melt, and pull water bottles into usable filament that actually prints. It took (and is still taking) trial, error, and a lot of learning, but this is just the beginning of transforming waste into something useful.

    Next up, I’m working on building part 2—a more advanced version of the machine that includes an automated bottle cutter and better filament cutter for flow control. I’ve already ordered the parts and will be documenting the build so you can follow along or try it yourself. I’ll also be fixing the pulley system on my current machine by replacing the motor and printing a new custom piece to make it run smoothly.

    There’s still work to do, but we’re one step closer to turning plastic waste into something powerful.

      This is awesome, it's so cool to see someone learn, I have a lot of experience making things and it's hard to see from a perspective of someone who doesn't do it as much as me. This seems like it will be a fun channel to watch
